About this gin
Jodhpur London Dry Gin is a curious global traveller. The brand is owned by Spain's Beveland Distillers, part of the Masoliver Group; the gin is distilled in England, at what the brand calls the oldest distillery in the country; and the name and blue livery pay tribute to Jodhpur, the Blue City of Rajasthan. The label sums it up as 'Made in England. Inspired by India.' It is bottled at 43%, slightly above standard strength, which gives it good presence in cocktails.
Thirteen botanicals go into it on a grain spirit base, including several native to India, with juniper, coriander, angelica, liquorice, ginger and cinnamon among those named by retailers. The brand describes a juniper-led nose with wild berries, subtle citrus and herbs, a smooth, rich palate with a resinous citrus note, and a long, aromatic, balsamic finish. It makes a punchy G&T and a well-balanced Negroni, and the story behind the bottle is a good talking point when you pour it for guests.
