About this whisky
100 Pipers was introduced by Seagram in 1965 and named after the pipers who, as the old Scottish song goes, marched with Bonnie Prince Charlie. Today it belongs to Pernod Ricard and is one of the best-known Scotch names in India, where it is bottled from Scotch whisky blended in Scotland. The blend brings together around 25 to 30 whiskies, with Speyside malts at the centre, and much of the malt comes from Allt-a-Bhainne, a Speyside distillery built in the 1970s.
The style is full-bodied yet mellow, with fruity notes, a gentle sweetness and a soft wisp of smoke. It is easy-going and dependable, the kind of Scotch that works with soda, water or ice at a family gathering or a relaxed weekend get-together. A sensible, widely recognised bottle to have on hand when you are hosting a crowd.
