About this whisky
MaQintosh Silver Edition was released by Amrut Distilleries, the Bengaluru house behind Amrut single malt, to celebrate the MaQintosh brand's silver jubilee. The brand's vision is credited to the late Neelakanta Rao Jagdale, the chairman who took Amrut onto the world stage. It is a blended whisky made in the same distillery that matures Amrut's single malts, and trade coverage at launch noted Himalayan barley in the mix. It is sold in India and the UAE.
The nose leads with sweet grain and a light nuttiness. On the palate, vanilla and blueberry meet fresh cut grass, with faint clove and cardamom giving it a distinctly Indian spice signature, and a gentle thread of smoke runs through to the finish. It is a characterful, approachable blend to enjoy over ice or with a splash of water, a good conversation bottle for friends who like to compare whiskies, and a neat gift for anyone who enjoys a homegrown story.
