About this whisky
When William Grant and his children finished building their distillery in Dufftown in 1887, the first spirit ran from the stills on Christmas Day. The Grant family still owns Glenfiddich today, and in the 1960s it became one of the first distilleries to sell its single malt around the world, rather than only to blenders. The 12 Year Old is matured in American oak bourbon casks and European oak sherry casks, then mellowed together in oak marrying tuns.
It is fresh and fruity, with a distinctive note of pear, developing into butterscotch, cream, malt and subtle oak, then a long, smooth, mellow finish. Approachable and versatile, it is the natural first step from blended Scotch into single malt, and a dependable bottle to keep on hand for guests. Enjoy it neat, over ice, or in a tall Highball with soda and a slice of green apple.
