About this whisky
Glenmorangie has been distilled in Tain, on the shores of the Dornoch Firth, since 1843. Its copper stills are the tallest in Scotland, roughly the height of a fully grown giraffe, and that extra height means only the lightest, purest vapours make it to the top. The Original then spends twelve years in ex-bourbon casks. Glenmorangie is known for being particular about its wood, and those American oak casks lend soft vanilla and sweetness to the delicate spirit.
Pour a glass and you will find a rush of citrus on the nose, then creamy vanilla layered with honey and ripe peach. It is light, bright and easy to like: a natural first single malt, and a lovely pre-dinner whisky on a Kolkata winter evening. Try it neat, with a little water, or in a long Highball with soda and a slice of orange. A dependable, well-known gift for colleagues and clients.
