About this tequila
1800 takes its name from the year tequila is believed to have first been aged in oak casks, and its tapered, pyramid-shaped bottle nods to Mexico's ancient temples. It is made at the historic La Rojeña distillery in the town of Tequila, Jalisco, from 100% blue Weber agave. The Añejo then spends more than a year in new American and French oak barrels, past the one-year legal minimum for the category.
The two oaks work together: American oak for vanilla and toffee, French oak for a drier, spicier edge. Expect a dark amber spirit with oaky vanilla on the nose, a nutty, toffee-rich palate and a peppery, well-rounded finish. It is a sipping tequila first, and a good bridge for whisky and cognac drinkers curious about agave. Serve it after dinner or bring it as a gift for a host who likes to explore.
