About this tequila

1800 takes its name from the year tequila is believed to have first been aged in oak, and the Reposado shows why that idea caught on. Made at La Rojeña in the town of Tequila, Jalisco, from 100% blue Weber agave, it rests for at least six months in new American and French oak barrels, three times the two-month legal minimum for a reposado. The two oaks do different jobs: American oak brings vanilla and caramel, French oak a drier spice. It all comes in 1800's distinctive tapered, pyramid-inspired bottle.

Pour it and you'll see a bright honey colour and smell oak-laced agave, followed by rich caramel, mild spice and a touch of smokiness on the palate, finishing with orange peel, white pepper and a note of marzipan. It is a reposado that works equally well in a glass on the rocks or in a richer Margarita. An easy, crowd-friendly bottle for anyone stocking a home bar for the festive season.

Serve

On the rocks with an orange slice, or in a Margarita (50 ml reposado, 25 ml lime, 20 ml orange liqueur, shaken, salt rim).
