About this tequila

Don Julio González started making tequila in the Jalisco highlands in 1942, and the Reposado follows directly from his original recipe. Blue Weber agave from Los Altos is distilled into the house Blanco, then rested for eight months in American white oak barrels, comfortably longer than the two-month minimum a reposado needs. That patience shows in a deeper golden colour and a softer, rounder spirit.

Expect cooked agave and citrus lifted by vanilla and light oak on the nose, then a smooth palate of caramel, cinnamon and honey with a touch of dark chocolate. The finish is warm and medium in length. It is flexible enough to sip on the rocks, and it adds real depth to a Margarita or a Paloma. A good choice for drinkers coming to agave from whisky, and a safe, stylish gift for festive season visits.

Tasting notes

Nose:

cooked agave and citrus with vanilla and light oak

Palate:

smooth and mellow, caramel, cinnamon, honey and a hint of dark chocolate

Finish:

warm and medium-length with lingering vanilla

Serve

Over a large ice cube with an orange twist, or in a Reposado Margarita (50 ml reposado, 25 ml lime, 15 ml agave syrup, shaken, on the rocks).

Food pairing

Works well with tandoori chicken or chicken chaap, and with pork carnitas or grilled corn with chilli butter.
